Don’t wait until after Christmas to mark down seasonal merchandise that just isn’t moving. Take a good look at your inventory and financials: What products need extra ‘help’ to move them out the door? Evaluate your inventory and product placement and do what you need to do to move them now to maximize your margin.
Sometimes relocating merchandise does the trick, and sometimes it’s time for a mark down. If you perform this evaluation on a regular schedule, you will have the information you need to make any necessary changes in a more cost-effective way.
